Which Battery Does My Collar Use?

Match your receiver to the right battery in about a minute. Pet Stop, Invisible Fence® brand, Dog Guard® and Perimeter receivers.

Not sure what you have? Text a photo of the receiver to (205) 564-5788 and we'll tell you.

Three Steps

1

Find the model name

Look on the receiver box itself, usually on the front or on a label on the back. The brand of the fence in your yard and the brand of the collar are not always the same.

2

Match it below

Find your brand and model in the chart. Each row shows the battery it takes and what it costs.

3

Order or pick up

Ships by USPS in one to two business days, or pick up at our Riverchase office. Drop box available anytime.

Ask us
Don't see your model?
We work on every major brand. Text a photo of the receiver and we'll tell you what it takes and whether we stock it.

When to Change It

Most replaceable receiver batteries last three to four months. A dead battery doesn't announce itself: the collar simply stops correcting, and your dog figures that out before you do. Change it every three months on a schedule.

Rather not think about it?

The Battery Plan ships four batteries per dog once a year, with a reminder every three months when it's time to swap. Any brand we carry. You don't have to be our customer. $65 per dog a year, tax included.

Battery Questions

What battery does my dog fence collar use?
It depends on the brand and model of the receiver, not the brand of the fence. Find the model name on the receiver, then match it in the chart above. Most Pet Stop receivers take a 6V lithium battery, most Invisible Fence® brand receivers take a battery cap, and Dog Guard® receivers take either a 6.2V silver oxide or a 6V lithium battery. Rechargeable collars like the Pet Stop Link and EcoLite have no battery to replace.
How long does a dog fence collar battery last?
Most replaceable receiver batteries last about three to four months in normal use. A few models run longer, but a battery that dies quietly leaves your dog with no correction and no warning. We recommend changing it every three months on a schedule rather than waiting for it to run down.
How much do dog fence collar batteries cost?
Most of the batteries we carry are $12 to $16.50 each, and 4-packs of the most common types are $55. The Battery Plan is $65 per dog a year and ships four batteries for any brand we carry.
Can I use a battery from the drugstore or a generic battery?
Sometimes, but it is a common reason a collar stops working. Some receivers use a common cell, while others need a specific size, voltage or a sealed battery cap, and a battery that is close but not right can fit loosely, drain fast or not power the receiver at all. If you are not sure, send us a photo of the receiver and we will tell you what it takes.
Do you ship batteries, or can I pick them up?
Both. Orders ship by USPS within one to two business days, and you can pick up at our Riverchase office during business hours or use the drop box anytime.
My collar has a fresh battery and still does not work. What now?
Check that the battery is in the right way and the cap is fully seated, then run our online troubleshooter. If the transmitter shows a fault or the collar still will not respond, the problem may be in the wire or the receiver itself, and that is a service call.
