Shield is our service plan for Pet Stop systems in the Birmingham area. A visit every spring before the aerators come, a wire break repair each year if you need one, and no base charge when we come out. From the same crew that's been doing this since 1994.

Every spring we walk your boundary and flag the wire, so anyone working in the yard can see where it runs, from the aeration crew to the fence builder. Most of the breaks we repair were preventable.
One wire break locate and repair is included each plan year, with up to 100 feet of wire. On its own, a locate and repair averages about $215, and one that needs the full 100 feet runs about $250. Any other service call is billed as labor only, at a member discount.
Your equipment warranty covers the equipment, plan or no plan. Shield covers the visit, the labor and the wire.
Pay once a year or in twelve monthly payments. Either way the plan runs a full year.

A year of batteries for each dog's collar, shipped to your door in one box, with a reminder every three months when it's time to swap. Pet Stop, Invisible Fence compatible, Dog Guard and most other receivers. You don't have to be our customer.

Where the lines are, so nothing comes as a surprise at the kitchen table.
Members skip the $160 base charge that covers the trip and first hour. You pay labor only, billed by the half hour at 10% off on Shield or 15% off on Plus, and parts at the same discount. Travel beyond 25 miles is billed at the member rate.
One locate and repair each plan year, with up to 100 feet of replacement wire on Shield and 150 on Plus. More wire than that, or a repair that needs a full re-run, is quoted at member rates before we start.
The manufacturer's warranty covers the equipment itself, and having a plan doesn't change it either way. The plan covers getting us there and the work.
Transmitter replacement isn't a plan benefit, because those failures almost always come with a lightning strike or a surge. Labor on that visit is still billed at the member rate.
Marking visits run late winter through spring and Plus checkups run in the fall, both scheduled by area. Plus members go to the front of the line. In peak season that means first, not same day.
We email before your plan year renews, and one reply cancels it. Prices don't go up without us telling you first. A monthly plan is a year paid in twelve installments: if you cancel partway through after using the wire break repair, a scheduled visit or the store credit, the rest of that year is due.

No. Plenty of customers go years without a service call, and for them a plan costs more than it saves. It makes sense if your yard gets aerated or landscaped every year, if you've had a wire break before, or if you're far enough out that travel adds up. The calculator on this page will show you which way your own numbers fall.
You still get the spring marking visit, which puts flags over your wire before the aerator or the landscaper finds it. That's the part we'd want if we were buying it.
No. Your equipment warranty stays exactly as it is, whether or not you have a plan. Shield pays for the service side of owning the system, starting with the spring visit and your yearly wire break repair.
That's handled as a warranty replacement, and the manufacturer's replacement fee applies. Shield Plus members get 10% off that fee.

Yes. If you sell the house, the plan can go to the new owners for the rest of the plan year at no charge. If you're staying in our area, we'll move it to your new address.
